The front bumper on my son's car was damaged when he slipped on loose gravel on the side of the road and then went into a small 2 foot deep 10 foot wide ditch.  You can see the damage a small accident can cause.  The re-painting of the right side of the hood and right fender cost $500.

Below are instruction on how to remove the old front bumper cover and the install a new one.

First thing you must do is remove the 6 plastic screws and the plastic screw inserts.

Next you need to remove (2) wheel well screws. 1 right wheel well the other on the left wheel well.

Then for ease for preparation of the new bumper installation. I would suggest that you remove the head lights as well. In addition you need to remove the 2 screw that hold the underside of the bumper cover on.  These screws are located about 16 inches form each side of the bumper and on the underside!!!

Once all this is completed there are a total of (4) 7/16" nuts that need to be removed.  The nuts are located up inside the bumper cover behind the headlight area and close to the far end of the bumper and up by the fender.

Above you can see the metal flange that is riveted to the end of the bumper cover.  Next you need to drill out the rivets and set aside the brackets (L&R) for use on the new bumper cover.  At this point it is ready for the installation of the new bumper cover.  This is what you should see.

You will also need to remove Mustang grill insert, there are a total four (4) screws that hold it to the bumper cover.

Don't remove the black foam bumper insert unless it is damaged or lose.  If it is just lose and 1 or both of the rivets are no longer holding the foam in place.  Then remove the foam inspect it for damage.  If all seems okay, no splits or that it has not became two pieces then you should be okay.  The easiest way to re-attached foam cover is to place RTV on the back side of the foam and then just duct tape it to the impact bumper section.

Re-installing the new bumper cover.

First re-rivet the side bumper bracket back on.  Don't use a bolt and nut combination, Ford has specified rivet due to the high vibration that happens at the ends of the bumper cover.

Once the rivets have been attached you are ready to install the new bumper cover.  This should be done in the opposite way of the removal and takes about 30 minutes.
